In Memoriam

Michael B. Scott

(1945-1997)

Michael B. Scott was one of the most outstanding trial lawyers in Arizona, having been dual certified in the specialities of Criminal Defense and in Personal Injury and Wrongful Death.

The firm’s clients who Mike represented ranged from those without any resources to a former U.S. Attorney General and a former Governor of the State of Arizona.

In 2007, Mike was posthumously recognized with the Tom Karas Criminal Justice Award from the State Bar of Arizona which stated:

“Recognizing that criminal law practioner who, during his or her career, has worked tirelessly to advance the principles of criminal justice by representing clients or the public with integrity, fairness, tenacity, creativity, brilliance and, above all, professionalism.”

We honor Mike’s legacy in our commitment to constantly live up to the ideals which he exemplified.

Tom Crowe is an experienced trial lawyer having tried more than 100 cases, most of which were before juries.

Tom’s professional background includes his service as a Deputy County Attorney, Legislative Assistant to the U.S. House of Representatives, and First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Arizona where he was in charge of the Phoenix Office.  As a federal prosecutor, Tom handled a broad variety of cases over the course of his six years in that office. In the civil arena, Tom had the benefit of working with the Phoenix law firm of Ryley, Carlock and Applewhite, P.A. where, among other things, he became an expert in certain specialized areas of federal labor law.

Tom is an AV® Rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest rating available. His Peer Review Rating is AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5.0. Tom is a sustaining member of Arizona’s Finest Lawyers based upon his “demonstrated record of high achievement, excellent legal skills and well-earned reputation for integrity.”

Tom has regularly been selected by Super Lawyers in the area of white color criminal defense and business litigation. Super Lawyers is a rating service of “outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.”

In addition, Tom was selected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. The Fellows is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars who have been elected by their peers to become members of The Fellows. Membership in The Fellows is limited to one-third of one percent of the lawyers admitted to practice in each jurisdiction of the United States; in this case, Arizona.

Phoenix Magazine has identified Crowe & Scott, P.A. as being among the top-rated law firms in Maricopa County in the areas of Civil Litigation and Criminal Defense.

Tom has served as a member of the Arizona State Bar Board of Governors from 2008 to 2014 where, among other activities, he served on the Rules Committee.

Tom is certified by the State Bar of Arizona as a specialist in criminal law. As of September, 2014, there were approximately 91 lawyers out of more than 17,000 active practicing attorneys in Arizona who were certified as specialists in criminal law by the State Bar.
